Thanks for your comment, SP! Haha. Yes, MoJo stands for Mobile Journalist. Yeah, I was totally thinking about your gloves. They'd be great for touchscreen phones. They'd also be good for wiping down the screen every once in awhile.

Ludo, thanks for your tips! I'll definitely check those gloves out. I was also having an issue with my touchscreen getting wet. It'd be great if those gloves would be able to soak up a little water. Thanks for reading!

Wow--that was an awesome, informative post. Those tips were excellent! Is "MoJo" for mobile journalism?

As for the "Freehands" mentioned by Ludo, you already know about those, you almost swiped them from me this past holiday! Just kidding, haha.

Sona,

I was watching the event on the web from Washington, DC and, trust me, I felt your pain. Reading your blog, I thought I would point you to a couple of glove products secifically designed to work with touch screen phones.

The simple one is from Freehands and uses thumb covers that can be flipped open when you need to use the screen (http://shop.freehands.com/).

The second one is a lot more sophisticated and I think would work better. It is from Tavo products and uses special material at the finger tips to transmit heat from your fingers to the screen (http://www.tavoproducts.com)

As you continue to be sent out to cover stories in the lovely Seattle stories, you might want to get a pair of these gloves.

Two things:

1) Going low-tech with phones doesn't hurt. Meaning, if you can text instead of using data to tweet, you'll more than likely be successful during peak usage. If you're using a service like Ping.fm, this can also handle Facebook updates.

2) Never substitute a real video camera for a cell phone video camera. The quality isn't worth the ease. And they're more durable in bad weather situations. Even smaller HDV cameras.
